Hey y’all.. First of all, I tried to post this earlier and it randomly deleted my post when I clicked publish. I mean, it disappeared into thin air. The wifi is not great here. Anyway I figured it was high time I explained myself and my vacation from blogville and, since I honestly can’t be bothered to rewrite the whole thing I wrote earlier, you’ll get the short version! You’re welcome.
So here’s the deal: I’ve moved out of my farm house in Illinois, hauled all my stuff (mostly kitchen stuff, you know how it goes) to my parents’ basement in Colorado and I’m now backpacking through Peru, Bolivia and Chile! Here until Christmas, then after Christmas I’m headed to China for a long while. Surprise?! I sort of mentioned this in earlier posts, but I got really busy near the end of my time in the Midwest so I never got a chance to be like HEY I’m taking off. My bad 🙂
What does this mean for de blog? I guess it means I am expanding it from only recipes to food-focused travel adventures and recipes when I can get my bum in a kitchen. We are doing this hostel-style on a budget, so it will be happening.
Anyway here I am in Aguas Calientes, Peru one day after hiking up to Machu Picchu and then up Machu Picchu mountain, and then all the way back down again. It was the most incredible place I’ve ever seen. Can’t feel my legs though.
So far we have been to Lima for a few days and then had a long journey here (21 hours on a bus), with a quick stop in Ollantaytambo. It’s been pretty easy eating vegetarian so far. Options are definitely more limited, but I haven’t been anywhere that has NOTHING for me to eat. Although, I’ve been pretty on the beaten track so far. It won’t always be so easy. The markets here are awesome though, been eating a lot of fruit and fresh bread. The bananas are gigantic!
That’s enough for now, on to Cusco tomorrow!
